Product photography

Professional product photography is crucial to capturing your products in the way you want them to be seen so they appeal to your target audience. This includes the style, lighting, props and location. Whether your intended use is for social media, advertising or e-commerce, getting the right look is key. I work with brands both large and small, so whatever your requirements I am happy to help. Here is a brief outline of how the process works.

The first step is a consultation with me either by phone or email. In order to provide a quote I will need some details about your business and products. To get an initial quote, I will ask you a few questions about your products, how many images you require, the location of the shoot and the style of photography you’d like (e.g. pack-shot, creative, lifestyle). If you aren’t sure which is best for you, then have a look at my guide here.

Initial consultation

We will discuss in more detail your brand identity, target audience, and how you want your product to be perceived – for example: energetic, peaceful, practical or vibrant. We will cover lighting, backgrounds and props, as well as practicalities such as the date and time of the shoot. Depending on your requirements, you may choose to use a set stylist, which would be an additional cost and can be discussed at the initial consultation.

Photo-shoots can take place either in my studio or on location. Studio shoots can be undertaken with you present, or I can send images for your approval via email or WhatsApp. My studio is located in Cheadle Hulme. On the day of the shoot I will set up the lighting and the set, which will take between 1 and 2 hours, depending on complexity and location. I review each image on a large monitor so I can make any adjustments to styling and lighting as we go. You will approve the images as we proceed. I have a large selection of backgrounds and props in my studio and use professional lighting and medium-format cameras.

The photoshoot

Included in the quote is all basic editing using Capture One and Photoshop, including exposure adjustment, cropping, colour correction and minor retouching to make the product look its best. Additional Photoshop work may be required to remove objects, change colours, remove props or hands, or correct product imperfections. Unless agreed in the quote, these changes may incur an extra cost.
